Welcome

January 11, 2011 I began an internship in central office at Franklinville Central School with Superintendent Michelle Spasiano. My initial charge was develop a local implementation model that was based on the Using Data Model developed in the

The Data Coach’s Guide. The quote below is my own and was part of the wiki that I developed to guide this process.

“To be successful we must create this community that celebrates and accepts our differences. There must be a celebration and acceptance of our imperfections. Successful implementation of the model will lie to a large extent on our ability to remove pretense from our interactions with each other. That distance from teacher to supervisor and from teacher to staff and teacher-supervisor-staff to parent and ultimately to students will be the largest barrier to overcome, but once breached will insure our success.” — Donald Watkins, January 30, 2011

Eventually over the course of my internship I had many opportunities to positively influence the culture of the school and to improve a student’s opportunity for success. This blog is an electronic record of that experience. My internship experience officially ended April 7, 2011.
